HR Fibreglass have invested in new spray equipment to enable them to be one of the leading manufacturers of GRP sprayed and hand laid products.
The New GRP Spray Machines
HR Fibreglass have recently purchased the latest Magna Venus spray chopper system, this now gives the company two of the top of the range GRP spray systems. The resin and the catalyst is typically mixed with the catalyst or curing agent within the spray gun. This is followed by spraying the catalysed resin and the glass fibre rovings through the spray gun at the same time, the glass fibre rovings are chopped within the chopper head of the spray gun into 12mm-24mm lengths.
Each pass of the spray gun increases the product thickness, a roller is then utilised to consolidate the resulting laminate to exclude any air entrapped in the process and ensures the reinforcement is completely coated in resin.
The spraying of the glass and resin mix continues until correct laminate thickness is obtained.
GRP Spray gelcoat system
HR Fibreglass have also recently purchased the latest Magna Venus Spray gelcoat system. The gelcoat is sprayed onto the mould surface and allowed to harden before building any other layers. The new gel coat spray system sprays an even layer of gel onto the mould to avoid fibre print through the gel coat surface.
GRP Spray Booth and GRP Cutting/Trimming Booth
We have also recently purchased a RDM Spray Booth and RDM Cutting/Trimming Booth. The booths are 6 metres long x 5.5 metres wide x 2.5 metres high complete with extraction fans.
The booths are designed to remove fumes and dust from the GRP spray systems, ensuring healthy and suitable working conditions and compliance with inspectorate requirements. Special paper filters are used to which any sticky particles adhere, allowing a large volume of fume laden air to be extracted from the area.
